SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT FOR ORCHARDISTS We are available to work with orchardists to manage pest and disease problems such as black spot, leaf-roller on apple trees and reduce reliance on sulphur and copper sprays. We can also help with passion vine hopper and scale on kiwifruit. We work by using biological remedies to make conditions unfavourable to pest and disease organisms, while promoting high quality, viable fruit production. - We start with analysing soil tests, balancing soil minerals and building up soil life so that trees receive optimum nutrition, based on a flourishing, biodiverse soil microbe community. Healthy, biologically nourished trees are better able to resist pests and disease.
- We recommend use of biodynamic preparations, pest “peppers” and homoeopathic minerals to change conditions to make them unfavourable for target pests, birds and disease.
- We also advise on using other nutrient and orchard management tools such as mulches and composts made to meet the specific requirements of an orchard.
- Peter’s weather forecasting ability makes him able to tailor management to anticipated weather conditions. We advise on using sprays to reduce impact of frost and cold conditions.
We can also advise on management of other crops using specialist sprays for plant cell division, flowering, ripening, pest and disease control, and soil management. Please contact us to discuss your requirements. |
